It's full of subjective opinions, of course, but it's great at pointing out which native plugins are legacy items that have been superseded by later options, and a general overview of what's possible in the software and how some of the workflows, well, work.

Since you're new to the software, I really recommend reading Admiral Bumblebee's series on FL Studio 20.

Maximus is a fantastic plugin, but everybody knows that. It's a simple little tool that can easily create massive-sounding distorted basses and shit with aggressive curves. Mackity, Srsly, and Dark are the ones of his I grab most frequently.ДЄs far as 'overlooked FL Studio native stuff' goes, please check out Waveshaper. Some of them are more notable for novelty than anything else, but there's some great workhorse stuff in there too.

They've got some other good free stuff too.ДЄirwindows has produced a massive fuckload of interesting little free VSTs that do things. Tokyo Dawn Labs' Molot is a nice 'character' compressor with a lot of weird options. Shattered Glass Audio's SGA1566 is fantastic as well - it's a mic preamp sim that applies 'tube sound' to anything, particularly vocals, at the cost of a massive CPU load (so just bounce the stem with it on and then use the recording). The best free ones I've found are NA Crunk V2, and Ace by Shattered Glass Audio. One thing that's never impressed me in the native FL Studio plugins is the distortion options, particularly for electric guitar amp style 'varies tremendously with amplitude' distortion.

Krush is possibly the best bitcrusher available, and it completely blows the pants off of FL Studio's native options. Even when I don't use them in my final project, LABS patches always get me inspired with interesting noises. It's got all kinds of instruments, both standard (strings, guitars, etc.), but also weird stuff like recordings of crowds in the London Underground subjected to granular synthesis to make a full patch. Sometimes itвЂ™s nice just to buy things you donвЂ™t need.ДЄgain though, do be wary of how much you spend like many hobbies/professions, music will not spare your wallet from becoming a never-ending blackhole of emptiness.ДЄnyways, welcome to music, and good luck!
